2021 was the year of The Great Resignation. Employers were forced to re-evaluate the way they did business and work harder to retain their most talented workers. According to an article by Business Insider, over 38 million workers quit their jobs during 2021. And it doesn’t stop there. Experts are anticipating employees to continue looking for greener pastures in 2022.
Headshots are very versatile and as we welcome the new year, employees need to get the most out of their headshots whether they may be on the hunt for another position or not. Here are four ways to get the most value out of your headshot and how to use your professional portraits to their full potential.
Company Websites
People do business with people they know or recognize. I’ve always found it helpful to put a face to the name and why shouldn’t it always be that way? Post your headshot and a short bio on the “Our Team” page and let potential clients get to know you.

Social Media
LinkedIn is the obvious place to use your headshot but why not go further and post it on other social media accounts. While you may not want to be strictly business on your accounts, your photos should still look appropriate in case a potential employer or client is scouting you. Use your professional, but more casual photos, on your Facebook and Instagram and leave the more business-oriented photos for LinkedIn.
Panels, Presentations, & Press
I’ve worked at the Chamber for years and never used a professional headshot until I was asked to be a guest speaker on a panel for the Wyoming Department of Education’s CSforALL SCRIPT Training. Not only will having a headshot ready to go make the process of marketing easier for event organizers, but it will help you stand out as an expert in your field.

General Brand Recognition
Companies sometimes encourage their employees to use headshots in a variety of marketing materials. It can include everything from news releases and brochures to email signatures and business cards. Try to think of different ways to incorporate your headshot whenever promoting yourself or your brand. Not only will it cause you to stand out, but it can boost your reputation and build a better relationship with clients.
The possibilities are endless and the number of good first impressions you could potentially make is too. So let’s get those headshots and portraits scheduled so that you can make your headshot work harder for you.
