2021 was certainly a journey. I had intended on never leaving my house without my camera, broadening my horizons, and taking at least one dedicated “photo trip”. While I didn’t take my camera everywhere and I didn’t necessarily get to take a dedicated photo trip, I did get to be a little more adventurous and I broadened my horizons with some new photo experiences. Help me ring in the new year with some bangin’ New Year’s resolutions!
Never leave the house without my camera
Honestly, this will probably always be a standing resolution. I never know when that perfect shot might hit and it's best to simply make sure I'm prepared to capture the magic moment. Although I realize we live in the world of smartphones, there’s just something about using my DSRL, if you know..you know.
Be more consistent in posting
Every year I start off strong by posting a blog every other week and sooner or later, I either lack ideas of what to write about or I get caught up in work and totally forget. Here's to spending the next year spreading my cheer world wide via the internet! :)
Take more risks
As I've noted in previous blogs, I'm pretty introverted and awkward which makes for a difficult time showcasing my portfolio. Not to mention whenever I finish a project and give it to my client, I am always afraid they'll hate their photos or be unhappy. At the end of the day, I need to be far more confident, take risks, and let my work speak for itself.
Expand & Broaden my horizons
Again, this is a standing resolution. Nothing is worse than being stuck in a creative lull or feeling burned out. I often feel more relaxed and as an introvert, can recharge my social batteries by spending my free time being creative. 2022 is the year of 🌈C R E A T I V I T Y.🌈
Take At Least One Dedicated “Photo Trip” in 2022
With COVID-19 and all of the variances lurking around, travel in 2021 was a bust. I wouldn't say I didn't travel at all, but I certainly didn't leave the beautiful state of Wyoming. The "local" trips taken were lovely and as much as I loved them, they just didn't satisfy my wanderlust. Let's rediscover our love for photography by traveling somewhere AWESOME!
Dedicate Time to Learn
The world is always changing and to stay relevant, businesses must be willing to consistently learn new tactics and tricks. My hope for 2022 is to commit more time to as much in-camera as possible. I spend more time in front of the computer editing images rather than focusing my efforts on making adjustments within the camera itself. By becoming more proficient and effective when originally shooting, the less time I'll waste in photoshop. Thus, giving me more time to focus on doing what I love.
It’s important to remember that even though we all make New Year’s resolutions every single year, that they’re not (and shouldn’t be) always obvious goals. They should be there as a guide to help us improve ourselves as creative human beings. Thank you to those who have made 2021 a good year and have stuck by me and all of my shenanigans. I can never begin to even explain how much I love and appreciate all of you.
Happy New Year loves!
