Planning or even organizing a wedding is an undertaking all on its own. Keeping in mind things such as traditions and the overall budget while keeping true to your own wants for the special day can get thrown into one giant crazy day of set up, elevated emotions, and clean up after the day is all said and done.
The best way to begin planning for your special day is to lay the groundwork for a smooth journey to married life. Wedding planner, David Tutera, notes, “Every couple should take some time, completely by themselves, to envision their perfect day”. Couples need to hone in on what feeling they want their guests to have throughout the celebration while also remembering the whole day is about them. Often times couples end up concentrating on something that really doesn’t matter in the end instead of focusing on each other and the family and friends who gathered to help them celebrate.
Over the next few weeks I’ll be rolling out tips and tricks I think will help assist you in making your special day is a hit for you and your guests.
Firstly (and in my opinion, most importantly); DO WHAT YOU WANT.
As ridiculous as it sounds, this is your special day and you have every right to have input. I’ve personally never seen anyone plan a wedding that includes everything a “traditional” wedding has yet has no meaning to the bride or the groom, but we all know it happens. Personalize your wedding to fit both your personalities; make this event uniquely yours!
Secondly; INVITE WHO YOU WANT.
For the simple reason that this is your wedding, you and your spouse should think about and invite who you really want around you when you’re marrying the person who means the most to you. If you both want everyone you know or have ever known to come, wonderful. If you want the day to feel more personable and you want to visit individually with each guest, opt for a smaller guest list. Narrowing down a guest list can be hard to do, but consider booking a destination wedding. Even if it’s a small celebration that is a day’s car ride away, guests may be less offended than if they’d been left off the guest list at a venue in your hometown.
Planning a wedding is supposed to be the happiest time in an engaged couple’s life. Easing the burdens of planning is easier than you might think. Check out more tips and tricks to help make your special day a hit for you and your guests.
Be married my friends!
