As a follow up to the "Questions to Ask Your Photographer" blog, I felt it might be appropriate (and fun) if I answer some of the questions myself! My answers are in PURPLE! :)
1. Is my preferred date available?
By day, I work as the Marketing & Communications Coordinator at the Casper Area Chamber of Commerce so be sure to hit me up about your date and we'll see!
2. If I choose to use your services, what is the process?
It's pretty simple, I'll ask for a deposit and work with you afterwards to figure something out. The closer we get to the event, we can meet up to go through the expectations, the timeline, and chat about anything else you want!
3. What is your fee per hour or are there any packages available? What items are included in the original fee? Can I customize my package? (This is a good opportunity to figure out whether or not you'll be charged extra if your session goes longer than expected and whether or not you can customize the package you want to best suit you)
I'm a bit different than other photographers in the sense that my "packages" don't really have any kind of restrictions and I don't charge per hour. To make it easy, I recommend just hitting me up for more information!
5. What are the payment plan options for the entire bill and what forms of payment do you accept?
As mentioned above, I'm more than happy to work with you! :)
6. How much is the deposit? When is the deposit due? Is the deposit refundable?
Unfortunately the deposit isn't refundable but the deposit is half of the total cost and as long as it's prior to the event, we're good to go! :)
7. What is your cancellation policy?
Well let's hope we don't have a cancellation! but as long as it's at least 2 weeks in advance, we'll be golden! I want to be considerate of my coworkers so the earlier, the better :)
1. How would you describe your photography style in 3 words?
Unique, Whimsical, Candid
2. What is your working style like? (Is this is a photographer who blends into the background and focuses more on the candid shots or creates a more visible presence by taking charge and setting up shots. Do they follow a shot list or prefer to have free reign? Do they bring their own lighting? What will they wear?)
Alright so I wrapped multiple questions into this one simple question. I'm all about the candid shots but that doesn't mean that you won't get the posed shots a lot of people want. My second shooter and I follow a mental shot list but aren't opposed to other images. I just got my own external flash (which is RAD) so I will always more than likely have that from here on out. When it comes to attire, check out my posting on things to tell your photographer!
3. If you focus on mostly candid, can I still get formal / posed portraits and vice versa?
Of course! As I mentioned, my second shooter and I typically have a mental list of different shots so you get a wide variety of different images.
4. Do you mind if I give you a list of specific shots we'd like?
Not at all! It allows me to get an idea of what inspires you AND it inspires me too! :)
5. How long after the event do we get to see the photos?
I try to get them to you within a week of the event because I'm just as excited to see them as you are!
6. What type of restrictions are there for sharing photos online or for publication? (Do they own the copyright?)
Under US law a copyright notice is not required to protect copyright. Photographers own the copyright to their work the instant they press the button. Simply put, I own the copyright but you have unlimited personal use of the images for printing and downloading.
As mentioned before, I know finding a photographer can be difficult and every photographer is different; so whether or not it's me, I hope this helps you in your quest to find the perfect photographer! :)
Much love,
